What now?

The Apostle Paul, a man like you me who was given revelation of ‘What now’ after the resurrection of Jesus. Paul lived at a time when the walk with God was one predominately declared as by law. Jesus pointed out that David entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat, Mk 2:26 for King David new it was about being a believer, Jesus acknowledged this.
Paul saw that the law was good because it made clear good and evil, life and death but it was not the source of the blessing of God,  it was believing, having faith that brought the blessing yet the Jewish people looked to the law when God Himself said ‘He is your life’ for it has always been a choice to believe first, to choose to believe to choose life for to have chosen the law first did not bring life.
Israel new they were a chosen people, God chose them by grace they didn’t  earn , work or even deserve it ,to be the chosen  people of God was a gift from Him and they also had circumcision as an outward show of God’s grace in choosing them. Yet Israel then chose law to stay ‘in’ with God, they stopped believing in God’s free gift  and resorted then to religion to keep them ‘right’ with God. Law keeping, self-effort prevented the faith life from producing the blessing of God yet King David, had found God’s blessing by always believing first and foremost that he was God,s King David was a great example of how to believe.
Paul was living in this environment where true believing was not predominate,it was works .ordinances, circumcision, what you eat etc. and in that environment Paul  wrote Romans and Galatians to contend with this condition of keeping your salvation by works Rom 11:5-7 so as believers today we are faced with the same challenge as Israel, and that is not to let religion rob the people of God of the free undeserved blessing of full salvation that comes by grace through faith in Jesus and by no other way.
What now? What a blessed time we live in being able to shake off the shackles of works based Christianity and as a light on a hill shines forth declare in Christ  living by grace through faith. It’s all about Jesus we are His beloved people co-workers with Him chosen and kept by grace.
